STAMP DUTY READY RECKONER RATES INCREASE IN MAHARASHTRA, NEW RATES TO COME INTO EFFECT FROM SEPTEMBER 12

WHAT IS READY RECKONER?

What is Ready Reckoner Rate? Many of us have this question. Ready Reckoner in English is used to purchase real and movable property. In the price rate table, separate stamp duty rates are fixed for construction classification according to district, taluka, village, area of ​​influence, Municipal Corporation, Nagarpalika, Nagar Parishad. Ready Reckoner rates are determined after approval by the Registrar General or the Chief Comptroller of Revenue. From 2016, these rates come into effect from April 1.

THE STAMP DUTY CUT WAS DEMANDED IN JUNE

Lockdown took place across the country from March 24. Since then, the state government had not announced ready reckoner stamp duty rates. Therefore, stamp duty was being levied as per last financial year. The new stamp duty and registration rates will come into effect from September 12. However, the developers had demanded that the government should announce the new rates with cuts in June.

In Maharashtra, the rate of ready reckoner for stamp duty registration has been increased on an average. This is an increase of 1.74 per cent. In rural areas it has been increased by 2.81 per cent, in the impact area by 1.89 per cent, in municipal and nagar panchayat areas by 1.29 per cent and in municipal areas by 1.2 per cent. The highest increase in the state is in Pune district. Which is 3.91 percent. In the PCMC sector, the growth is 3.2 per cent. In the PMC sector, the growth is 2 per cent. Mumbai minus 6 per cent, Thane 0.44 per cent, Nashik 0.74 per cent, Nagpur 0.1 per cent, Navi Mumbai 0.99 per cent.

However government is still silent on any policy decisions to be made for increase in stamp duty on gift deed.
