NAVI MUMBAI: so as to curb the menace of suspected Nigerian nationals who involved in drug selling, the police have started taking action against property homeowners who rent out their flats to Nigerians but don’t furnish the rental agreement of their flat. The incident once again proved importance of Rent agreement registration. The Taloja police have registered an FIR against a builder and 2 estateagents for dealings out 3 flats in a very building to Nigerian nationals and not submitting the rental agreement to the vicinity police. Taloja police station’s senior inspector Ajay Kumar Landge aforesaid, “As per the notification issued by DCP (HQ) below the criminal procedure code section a hundred and forty four, it’ necessary for the owner to tell the , police regarding the tenant who has rented the flat.” however builder Mohammed trinket had rented a flat in Royal Hayat building in sector twenty six, to a Nigerian national Igiophor Victor mike without submitting the rental agreement to Taloja police. They did not considered Police verification after renting. trinket had rented out 5 additional flats to foreigners and failed to inform thel police. 2 estate agents, one Gaikwad and Mohamamd were mediators and are served with summons. as per senior inspector Pradeep Tidar of Kharghar police station, a landlady, Vandana Vinayak Patil. has been booked for not furnishing details of the tenant, a Nigerian national, to the vicinity police. Patil had rented out her flats in Saubhagya Residency in Kharghar.
So keep in mind, Police verification after renting is always safe.
Rent agreement registration is wise decision.
This incident of Navi Mumbai clearly suggest importance of registration of leave and license agreement/ Rent agreement registration and Police verification of tenant subsequently. Estate Agents are sometime becomes reason for worst legal complications. Its a duty of citizen to check with lawyer all do’s and dont’s in respect of renting out property.
